Hi — thank you for taking the time to explore my work.

I'm Christine Paris, an interdisciplinary artist creating large-scale Embodied Paintings and layered mixed media works inspired by movement, emotion, and the natural world.

Embodied Painting is both my creative practice and an invitation into presence. My work begins not with a predetermined image, but with movement, intuition, and emotional awareness. Through layers of paint, gesture, and mark making, I explore the relationship between body, mind, and spirit, allowing each painting to emerge through a process of discovery rather than control.

My mixed media work includes hand-painted papers, acrylics, inks, natural materials, and layered textures which I use to create compositions that feel both structured and organic. My work explores transformation—how fragments, experiences, and emotions can reorganize into something unexpectedly whole.

I studied Studio Arts at Daytona State College and bring a multidisciplinary perspective to my work, informed by earlier careers in engineering and management consulting. After retiring from those fields, I returned to art with renewed focus and a dedicated studio practice, continuing to evolve my visual language.

My relationship with art began more than 30 years ago through creative exploration and art therapy, where I discovered creative expression as a powerful path for self-discovery and healing. That experience continues to shape my work today, where intuition, curiosity, and embodied mark making guide each piece.

For many years, ecstatic dance has been my spiritual practice. It offers a space where thinking gives way to presence and movement becomes a form of meditation. Many of my paintings emerge directly from this embodied experience, carrying traces of rhythm, energy, emotion, and transformation. Rather than illustrating movement, my work seeks to embody it.

My work is also deeply informed by years of studying natural systems through permaculture and edible garden design. Observing how living systems grow, adapt, and find balance has shaped my understanding of emergence, resilience, and interconnectedness. Whether I am creating a painting or designing a garden, I am exploring the same essential question: How can we create spaces that reconnect us with ourselves and the living world?

My work has been exhibited at The Hub on Canal Street in New Smyrna Beach, Florida, and both my artwork and writing have been featured in Daytona State College's Aeolus Magazine.

My journey as an artist continues to evolve through curiosity, experimentation, and a deep appreciation for the creative process. Each painting is an invitation to slow down, reconnect with the body, and discover the beauty that can emerge when we trust the process.
